Freak Show

Some weird shadows along Broadway that provided some interesting lighting to this businessman.  I kind of like that the bus had the Freak Show advertisement.  Seems odd that in the first photo, he is lit only on the right side, but the second he is lit only at the bottom.

Pacing within the Light

A rather crisp day with dramatic light created simple strips of heat.  This guy paced back and forth and he continued with his urgent phone call.  He only walked within the band of light.  Back and forth, back and forth.

Backlit from the Front

I find this light a curiosity.  If you look closely, you will see the light is coming from the direction of the building.  So, that means it has been reflected so strongly that it is bouncing towards the people.

Crack of Light

My initial title for this was "Sliver of Light"  but that name had been previously used in another post.  So, crack is good for this one.

Fence View

This one is from the archives.  The end of an elevated train platform looking towards the train signal light.  Looks like the train should proceed with caution.

Point of No Return

It may appear that this shot was made black and white with the green line intentionally left untouched.  However, this is a true color picture.

Last Light

As the days get shorter, the Fall light gets more dramatic and contrasty.  This first shot was taken at mid-day and is direct.

Stark's

But the light at the end of the day, which is around 6pm at this point as the clocks have not been pushed back yet, slips away grabbing little pieces of buildings.

Last Light

Here's another one where just the tiny piece of light remains.  I found that I had called both pictures "Last Light".   I don't usually like to have identical names, but I will leave them with the explanation here.

Last Light

This another example of the last light, as this window gate in the meatpacking district creates a gothic type of shadow.

Sliver of Light

Another cold sunny day. I hadn't been out to the streets with my camera for a while so I forced a quick trip. Close by is an elevated plaza that serves as an excellent perch to observe the street traffic. This time the light coming from the south up the avenue illuminated the walkway in a singular strip. I planted myself at the plaza's corner for ten minutes and grabbed these shots. Then quickly returned to my warm building.
